OCR: Compacts are good general purpose cameras, and the zoom compact has made far more subjects available to the compact. This shot of a Sapphire Cosworth at Cadwell Park was taken with an SLR and short zoom. It could equally as well have been taken with a compact. The problem comes for the car racing enthusiast when the cars are out on the track. There is no chance of a good frame filling shot at racing safety distances. Motor racing/sports photographers will be using lenses of 300 mm. or more - almost 10 times the magnification of the ordinary compact lens. Do not be over ambitious.
